アクタン・アリム・クバト Aktan Arym Kubat began a new chapter with his own starring after the trilogy " ブランコ (Sel'kincek/1993)", " あの娘と自転車に乗って (The Adopted Son/1998)" and " 旅立ちの汽笛 (Maimil/2001)" that wrote his own boys' age. He says the first starring " 明りを灯す人 (THE LIGHT THIEF/2010)" and " 馬を放つ (CENTAUR/2017)" this time is are depicting the present age.
His movie has consistently been charming since the 1990s when he made his directorial debut, and I feel that he has become more affectionate as he himself plays the hero.
" 馬を放つ (CENTAUR/2017)" is the story of a man trying to keep the legend by releasing a horse. We might call the hero a sacred fool, but the movie never makes him beautified. While he is married, he gets along with a beautiful widow and is suspected of cheating. He looks silent, but never stoic. In other words, He believes only what he wants to believe. The antisocial act of stealing and releasing others' horses is also a radical mischief rather than an objectionable appeal. In short, he is charming.
It is foolish that we cannot hate. However, it is not without sin. No, rather, because he is not a clean innocent person, he must dream to realize a legend. The movie depicting extraordinary characters abstractly embodies the need for dreams = fantasy, which suggests that it is unexpectedly close to us.
A good movie will not condone humans. アクタン・アリム・クバト Aktan Arym Kubat also quietly observes this thesis and opens up the animal way heading for a world without judgment with a smile.
